Calendula Ointment Recipe

Here is the calendula ointment recipe that Adrian Ionescu concocts and his coworkers rave about. It is great for minor burns and irritations, or for skin improvement.

calendula

Recipe yields approximately one cup of ointment.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup of dried or fresh calendula flowers

1/2 cup extra virgin oil

1/8 cup vegetable glycerin

1/8 cup beesewax

10 drops lavender oil

10 drops lemongrass oil

20 drops sea buckthorn oil

Instructions:

Put the olive oil, glycerin, and calendula flowers in a pot and heat on low for 3-4 hours.

Lay a cheesecloth on top of a container and pour the above mixture through the cloth to strain out the flowers.

Pour the strained mixture in a pan and turn the heat on low. Add the beeswax, lemongrass oil, lavender oil, and see buckthorn oil, and stir.

After the beeswax has melted, pour the contents of the pan into a clean container, and leave it uncovered until it is cool.
