Good Thursday! I hope everyone is well. Just a few announcements for this week’s letter.
Next year is the 50th anniversary of the community college act which created our system. The State Board is looking for suggestions for 50 distinguished alums to feature in a variety of ways. If you are aware of a Cascadia alum who has gone on to make an extraordinary impact on our world, please let me know. We are looking for high profile alumni who will help the legislature understand our impact.
Second, I am pleased to announce that we will once again be able to put some money towards salaries. The legislature has authorized a 1.8% increase for represented groups. The Classified and Faculty unions will have the increase distributed as stipulated in their contracts. For Exempt, we periodically complete Puget Sound market salary surveys and we have the recent data in hand. For Exempt, we are able to bring every employee up to their market rate with this year’s allocation from the legislature. This means that some exempt will see an increase, but many of us will not if we are already at market.
And finally, the Northshore School District selected a new superintendent, Dr. Michelle Reid. I look forward to getting to know my new colleague. You can read more about her here.
Have a great weekend.
